Dua for Nazr-e-bad(Evil Eye)

The Concept of the Evil Eye and Protection through Dua:

The concept of the evil eye, or “Nazre Bad” in Urdu, is deeply rooted in various cultures and religions, including Islam. It is believed that the evil eye is a malicious glare, often inspired by envy or jealousy, which can cause harm or misfortune to the person it is directed towards. The belief in the evil eye spans centuries and has found mention in the texts of many ancient civilizations. Its perceived power lies in the negative energy that emanates from a person’s envious gaze, which can bring about illness, bad luck, or other forms of harm.

In many traditions, the evil eye is considered incredibly dangerous. People often go to great lengths to protect themselves and their loved ones from its potential effects. Common symptoms believed to be caused by the evil eye include sudden sickness, unexplained bad luck, and even mental or emotional distress. These symptoms are thought to arise when the negative energy from an envious look disrupts the natural balance of a person’s life.

Duas for Protection from the Evil Eye:

In Islam, it is believed that seeking protection through prayers (duas) and the remembrance of Allah can safeguard individuals from the harmful effects of the evil eye. Here are some powerful duas that are commonly recited for protection:

1. Surah Al-Falaq (The Daybreak) – Surah 113

This Surah is one of the most frequently recited chapters for protection from all forms of harm, including the evil eye.

Translation: Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak From the evil of that which He created And from the evil of darkness when it settles And from the evil of the blowers in knots And from the evil of an envier when he envies.”

Reciting this Surah three times in the morning and evening is believed to provide protection against the evil eye and other harmful entities.

2. Surah An-Nas (The Mankind) – Surah 114

This Surah is also recited for protection from all kinds of harm and evil influences.

Translation: Say, “I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, The Sovereign of mankind. The God of mankind, From the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, Who whispers in the breasts of mankind, Among jinn and among men.”

Similar to Surah Al-Falaq, reciting Surah An-Nas three times in the morning and evening is recommended for protection.

3. The Dua for Protection from Harm:

This dua is a supplication taught by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for seeking refuge from various harms, including the evil eye.

Translation: In the name of Allah with whose name nothing is harmed on earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

Reciting this dua three times in the morning and evening serves as a shield against the evil eye and other dangers.

4. The Prophetic Dua for Protection from the Evil Eye:

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also taught specific supplications to seek protection from the evil eye.

Transliteration: A’udhu bi kalimat-illahi-tammati min kulli shaytanin wa hammah wa min kulli ‘aynin lammah.

Translation: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every poisonous reptile and from every evil eye.

This dua can be recited regularly to protect oneself from the harmful effects of the evil eye.

Conclusion:

Belief in the evil eye is prevalent in many cultures, and in Islam, it is considered a significant concern. However, through the power of dua and faith in Allah’s protection, one can safeguard themselves and their loved ones from its potential harm. Regularly reciting these duas and placing trust in Allah’s protection can provide peace of mind and spiritual security.
